What Customers Say About Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 EX DG IF Aspherical Lens for Nikon SLR Cameras:

You get for what you pay.The lens is not sharp at all, even at higher F values. To closer you get to 2.8 the most you notice vignetting in the four corners of the photo and I judge this based on the fact I use a full frame camera, might not be the same with a 1/2 frame. The lens petal hood would not align perfectly (at least on my model) and I think this is a problem because it is noticeable on my pics. I love the material and the feel of the lens but I just couldn't use it for the type of photography I do.
Definitely not a keeper.I tried it at an outside wedding first. I've tried two copies of this lens. It focuses best for me on the D90 but is still pretty soft. The bodies I tried it with don't have focusing problems with any other lenses. Even with the low price tag, its just not worth it. I haven't been able to get acceptable results with auto focus using the D200 at all.
I got maybe 5-10 usable shots for the entire day with this lens. I've used it on D300, D200, D90, D60. Thankfully I was shooting two bodies and made sure I got all I needed with the other camera. Even manually focusing this lens is still not sharp at any aperture. Not just soft for a cheap lens, better pictures can be taken with a kit 18-55 all day with AF. I tried it in low light at a concert where it didn't fare any better even manually focusing(of course).
I can take better pictures with most any point and shoot.
